Grantee Spotlights
At the Mellon Foundation, this content format allowed us to introduce audiences to the work of grantees across the country. While grantee features are evergreen, I built a strategy around timing, strong visuals, and character-centered storytelling. Take a look at some of my favorite creative processes.
Louis Armstrong House Museum
To celebrate the expansion of the Louis Armstrong House Museum, I crafted a post that centered Louis and Lucille's love story and the home they built in Queens.
I selected rarely seen archival photos of the couple and mixed in images of their restored house. I timed the post to celebrate Louis Armstrong's birthday, when many music and jazz lovers would be posting about the late musician.
The post gathered nearly 90K views and was shared nearly 300 times.
Blanket Relations Initiative
The Osage Nation Foundation's Blanket Relations Initiative is an oral history project that collects interviews about the Osage tradition of blanket sharing.
I designed the post to lead with the compelling characters of the project: the community elders.
I selected a candid moment between the interviewee and the production team to open the post, inviting people to immediately connect with a shared moment of humor.
The post gained more than 28K views and 2K interactions.
August Wilson House
I visited the August Wilson House in Pittsburgh, PA, to film content onsite. I decided to focus on details that felt intimate and specific to the home and Wilson's life, from childhood portraits to a commemorative plaque on the city's busy streets.
I wrote quippy headline copy to immediately hook the reader and set the scene: "American theater history lives at 1727 Bedford Avenue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania."
The post was viewed more than 19K times.
